For green space managers and organizations militating for greener, ecological cities, the next World Urban Parks Congress will be held from September 11th to 16th, 2019 in the Russian city of Kazan! A major event for landscaping at which the international community will discuss the problems of green space sustainability and the health of urban residents.
World Urban Parks, the reference for urban green spaces management
By 2050, 70% of the world population will live in urban areas. For their wellbeing and health, the development of green spaces and greenest cities will be vital. To promote good practices, expert advice and innovations in the sector internationally, the World Urban Parks organization was created in 2015 and regularly coordinates events for everyone active in landscaping.
All public authorities and private enterprises working in the management of green spaces, health, tourism or natural resource management can join this organization. Companies, non-governmental organizations, universities and educational institutions are also welcome in support of a common objective: the creation of more green spaces to improve the happiness and health of all!
A program focused on sustainability and health
The sets of themes announced for this congress all converge on a single objective – the promotion of the health of citizens and a reflection on green space sustainability. Participants will talk about and discuss the following subjects:
- the development of public places;
- the improvement of urban life through community management;
- the challenges of management and sustainability;
- the use of new technologies in urban public environments;
- the integration of nature in urban designs.
From September 14th to 16th, 2019, the congress will also feature technical visits.
Kazan and its surroundings: an ideal place to address sustainable green spaces management!
Kazan is one of the 10 most ecological Russian cities. It is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and is supported by Tatarstan’s Institute of Urban Development.
Since 2016 a special public spaces development program has recreated the green city of Kazan and its region with the introduction of a host of pedestrian precincts, the redesign of several public green spaces and the landscaping of riverbanks. Overall, more than 300 parks have been reorganized.
This dynamic, fast-growing city, is still little known and a wise choice to welcome this major event in landscaping. Participants are sure to benefit from a new experience, while learning more about urban landscaping!
